Two versions for the origin of its name exist. The first one mentions the shipwreck to it of a boat English pirate, where its members of the crew had saved it arriving at the beach, and therefore, Beach of the English started to call itself. One second version says that a citizen of English naturalness was the first occupant of the beach. In its formation, Florianópolis received a great number from Portuguese immigrants, come of the Island of the Açores. LOCALIZATION

The Beach of the English is located in the north of the Island, region with excellent tourist infrastructure, approximately 35km of the center of Florianópolis. The waves are soft of small and medium undulation in different points of the beach, however, in some days the sea is more agitated and it presents good formation for the surf practice. It is limited to the east with the Ponta dos Ingleses that separates it of the Brava Beach, and to west with the Ponta da Feiticeira that separates it of the Santinho Beach.

Besides the beauty, the beach also stands out for their dunes, where the tourists can enjoy the sandboard (surf in the dunes) and to the north the area of environmental preservation and hill that divides the Ingleses Beach of the Brava Beach, where it is possible to arrive through the ecological trails in the company of a guide.
